I love framebuilding videos. This one of Robin Mather was especially well done by the folks over at Rapha.

More details about Mather’s Continental bike can be found on his profile page and in an interview. Additional profiles of Rapha Continental builders can be found here.

One of my favorite local blogs, The Bold Italic, covered four San Francisco based bicycle framebuilders. This article comes in just a week after the 2012 North American Handmade Bicycle Show held in Sacramento, CA. Click on the picture or here to visit the article.

The Jiggernaut

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

Here is a great idea for the bicycle framebuilding hobbyist. It’s no secret that jigs are expensive and this is definitely one of the lowest cost options I have seen so far. The Jiggernaut also looks really cool with the rounded corners and it was also really well thought out in terms of shipping dimensions.

My main concern would be that the MDF would alter over time from heat and moisture exposure, but honestly I’m no expert in the material. But then again if this were made from solid pieces of aluminum, I expect it would cost just as much as other jigs on the market.

Overall, I think it’s a really great idea. Check out the Kickstarter project!
