Hey Ely - I remember you now. Last time you commented, I thought you and I had crossed paths at the end of the 2 Rock/Valley Ford 200k. Now I remember us chatting on that final climb up to the light house.

You should share your recipes for energy bars! I've been finding stashes of expired Clif Bars which means even they are not tasty enough after I get through about 3/4 of the box. Maybe you can make a savory variety with bacon in it. Mmm... :)

Also, I've been trying Perpeteum as a pancake like mixture on the road. It seems to work well, but I think it's about $1 a serving. And on that last ride, I probably had over 10 servings. I hear it can be made with soy protein and maltodextrin. Once I finish my huge 5 lb. tub, I'll probably try mixing some up (shhh...don't tell Hammer).

Nice write up Sean. I look forward to doing a 300k. I'm still working on these 200k's. It's amazing that there is so much time, even if you have mechanicals or need to take breaks, 15 or 30 minutes doesn't really add up to much. I had broke my chain a few times coming up to the light house and my rear fender rattled loose.
I'm trying to figure out the food thing too. I have to force myself to eat something in the morning, eggs, toast, and a small piece of bacon, even when I have no appetite. I've been trying out home-made energy bars with lots of protein and carbs, the first batch was awesome. The second batch, not so good, now I have to eat them for the next few weeks.
